CoilWars is a free browser game. We collect as little as possible: you can play without an account, and even with an account we never see your email address.

Playing as a guest

• We store nothing about you on our servers. Your name, level, skins and settings are saved only in your own browser (local storage) and you can clear them at any time.
• Our game server sees your IP address while you are connected. It is used only to run the game and to limit abuse (for example too many connections from one address), and it is not stored in our database.

Playing with an account (Sign in with Google)

Signing in is optional. If you do, we store:

• a random account identifier that Google gives us for CoilWars (not your email, name or photo; we only request Google's openid scope),
• the in-game name you choose,
• your game progress: XP, level, chosen skin, totals such as games played and worms eaten, and a history of your matches (mode, length, kills, placement, time),
• a login session so you stay signed in.

Your in-game name and best lengths are shown publicly on leaderboards.

Cookies

We only use cookies that are strictly necessary: cw_session keeps you signed in (60 days), and cw_oauth protects the sign-in step (10 minutes). Guests get no cookies. There is no advertising, analytics or tracking.

Why we process this data

To provide the game and your account (the service you asked for), and to keep the game fair and secure (our legitimate interest in preventing abuse).

Who else is involved

• Google handles the sign-in step when you choose to sign in.
• Cloudflare delivers traffic to our site and protects it from attacks, and therefore processes IP addresses.
• Hetzner hosts our server in Finland (EU).

We never sell or share your data with anyone else.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept until you delete your account. Login sessions expire after 60 days. Daily database backups are kept for 7 days, so deleted data disappears from backups within a week.

Your rights

• Delete your account any time in the game: open Stats and choose Delete account. This removes your account, progress and match history immediately.
• You can ask for a copy of your data, or its correction, by emailing [email protected].
• You may complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) or your local data protection authority.

Children

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Guests of any age can play without one.
